About Me – The Herbal Eye
My name is Sylvia Sheehy, and my journey into natural health and alternative medicine began over four years ago. I trained with the Irish School of Herbal Medicine in Portlaoise (now Core College, Kilkenny), completing the intensive Medical Master Herbalism programme. This was a demanding four-year course involving over 600 hours of clinical training in addition to a rigorous study of anatomy, pathology, and materia medica.
As a result, I am a fully registered and insured Medical Master Herbalist. This qualification goes far beyond simply learning about herbs — it involves an in-depth understanding of the human body, health patterns, and how to work holistically with each individual.
During my training, I also qualified as an Iridologist. Iridology is the study of the iris (the coloured part of the eye). The iris carries inherited information from our family line — sometimes showing areas of strength or “gifts,” and other times highlighting potential vulnerabilities that may benefit from extra care. While iridology does not diagnose illness, it is a valuable tool for health awareness, prevention, and personalised care.
In addition, I practice as a Vitalist Nutritionist. Vitalism is rooted in the understanding that the body is a self-healing, self-regulating system, sustained by an innate life force. With the right diet, lifestyle, and support, this natural energy can be strengthened to restore balance and wellbeing.
At The Herbal Eye, I do not focus on labels or disease names. Instead, I treat the whole person — mind, body, and soul — recognising that true health comes from addressing root causes and supporting the body’s natural healing ability.
You are welcome to book a full herbal consultation, or, if you are simply curious, an iridology session on its own. I also offer iridology and herbal consultations for children (please note: anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian).

Good news! Irish Life Health now offers money back on visits to medical herbalists. If you have Health Plan 13 or Be Fit 3, you can claim €35–€40 per visit (up to 7 visits a year). As I’m a registered herbalist with the IAMMH, your consultation at The Herbal Eye qualifies for this benefit.

Full herbal consultation which takes 90 mins iridology is used ( photo or your eyes are taken on a phone ) these pictures are then used as a guide to help us decide where most you may need extra support. We go through any relevant medical history, diet, lifestyle etc and herbs if needed will be prescribed ( you do not have to buy these if you do not wish, they are not included in the 90euros ) Cost of this consultation is 90euros

The eyes are the window to the soul, here i take pictures of both eyes using my phone , we go through them together and i will interperate what the colours and various marking mean on both a physical and emotional/behavioural level , we do not diagnos any illness from the eyes they are merely a guide to help you see where you may need extra support in your life. This takes approx 30mins and cost is 60euros

Prices vary here as each consultation will result in different herbs being prescribed based on iridology report and intake form. All costs will be clearly explained during the consultation. Purchasing herbs is totaly upto you and you dont have to take them if you do not wish , i have a selection of Herbal infusions ( teas ) , tinctures and powders that i use each one is made up after you leave and is individual to you and your needs and medical history, these can be collected or posted to you.
